- Off the Beaten Track
With over a hundred cities of over a million people, it is easy to lose sight of China’s agricultural heritage and roots. Those seeking a more authentic understanding of real China should venture away from urban areas into more remote rural destinations for a better appreciation of working people’s daily lives, challenges and realities. In Guilin and Huangshan you may judge the depopulating effects of urbanisation on rural life. In Shangri-la and Lijiang you can ascertain how successfully China is integrating its ethnic minorities into a larger national narrative. These areas’ rich tapestry of minority cultures from Tibetan to Naxi to Bai are both manifestly distinct from the majority Han culture, but also seem to be enmeshed within a common destiny.
Including such areas of great natural beauty within an itinerary will provide deeper insight into China’s evolving story.
Your attention to detail provided many extra-special moments & gave us a priceless gift: an introduction to China we will always cherish.

See China Your Way
We all dress differently, we all live differently and we all have different interests when we travel. Just as there's no one China, there's no one destination. What we do is customize your itinerary so that you see each destination the way you want to see it.
Some travellers, inspired by distant lands and remote, exotic cultures, cannot wait to get out of the city to walk the road less travelled. This itinerary explores China's rural idylls from the spectacular karst scenery of southern China to the mist-strewn granite tusks of Huangshan and the pastoral romances of the Naxi and Tibetan nations living in the Himalayan foothills. Another destination (not included below) to tempt such a cultural explorer might be Lhasa.
