Given that Seoul boasts fabulous 24/7 shopping, this itinerary is so packed with absorbing activities that I’m not sure if and when travelers are going to have time to sleep. As the capital, Seoul offers everything from color consultations to artisans to nighttime markets. Busan’s seaside port introduces the wealth of the oceans to culinary excellence and beauty treatments. The island of Jeju introduces Korea’s women Haeneo divers and invigorating hikes.

Day 01

Arrive in Seoul

Those who want to get out of their hotel might head to Insadong, an area known for its crafts and cultural goods, and then explore the beautiful labyrinthine alleyways to its north.

Day 02

Culture, Cooking and Clinics

Our day begins with a tour of Gyeongbok Palace, the most important of Seoul's five royal palaces. Whilst its architecture echoes Chinese influence, the food you will discover in your subsequent cooking lesson will reveal the uniqueness of local culinary culture in terms of the structure and ingredients comprising a meal. Our trip to a fashionable beauty clinic involves a change of gears; after a 3D face scan, a doctor will suggest treatments that will immediately follow.

Day 03

Master Crafts people and Tea

Koreans so venerate their heritage that traditional crafts remain vibrant with an array of craftspeople respected as National Treasures. At the same time, traditional skills and materials are reapplied to more modern functions with for example, hat makers applying their techniques to the making of lamps. Today you will be led into the studios of a selection of master craftspeople hidden within alleyways of old town. After you will visit a Tea Specialist who creates a herbal blend for individuals depending on their assessed profile.

Day 04

The Art of Garden Design and Linen wrapping

Less theatrically staged than Chinese or Japanese gardens, a Korean garden aim for a more natural, less tended look that incorporates running water and imperfect elements. The exquisite beauty of seemingly simple natural elements is equally apparent in this afternoon's lesson in the traditional skill of bojagi or linen wrapping. Both functional and highly decorative, bojagi is a functional artform you can practice this afternoon after some retail therapy.

Day 05

A Morning of Beauty, An Afternoon of Travel

K-beauty is known both for its holistic and individualist approach. After your personal color consultation, you will be advised on a range of appropriate beauty products from cleansing to hydration, exfoliation to serum application, toning to protecting - all of which are created using the natural and innovative ingredients for which K-beauty is celebrated. In the afternoon, we board a train to Korea's coastal city of Busan.

Day 06

Hiking, Eating and Relaxing

We begin our discovery of Korea's largest harbour, one of the largest container ports in the world, with a stunning coastal hike along a cliff-hugging path past a suspension bridge towards the city. Here, we are joined by a local chef to walk and talk us through the many foods available at Korea's largest seafood market. To unwind, we visit a local clinic for scalp and head spa treatments.

Day 07

Gyeongju daytrip

As we drive to Gyeongju we head from the third to the first millennium, when Korea was unified and ruled by the long-lasting Buddhist Silla dynasty. On our way we visit one of Korea's most significant temples, Bulguk Temple, in whose nearby grotto you will view a precious stone Buddha statue dating form that era. In Gyeongju's centre, you will find now only 23 Imperial tombs but also its delightful old town. After dinner at a wonderful restaurant, it will be time to head back.

Day 08

Fly to Jeju, Contemporary Art Museum

This morning you will board one of the plentiful flights a short distance across the East Sea to Jeju island, a UNESCO listed bio reserve. En route to your hotel, you will have the opportunity to stop at the fascinating Bonte Art Museum, filled with both Korean art and furniture and contemporary Western exhibitions. In the evening, you will be able to engage in some hard core exfoliation in a traditional bathhouse.

Day 09

Coastal Hiking And Diving

Jeju island is criss-crossed by over 400 km of coastal hiking trails where you can commune with locals in their favored national pastime. As we get towards lunch, you will meet with some Haenyeo female divers. Since the fifteenth century, local women have dived for seafood in this matriarchal society. Modern day Haenyeo will familiarize you with their lifestyles and introduce you to traditional seafood island recipes.

Day 10

Departure

You leave Korea having indulged not only in its cultural and culinary delights, but after having taken advantage of its wellness, retail and beauty products.
